That video of Phil Bardsley flooring Wayne Rooney is now so famous it’s being referenced by wrestling commentators.

This clip shows Nikki Bella apparently KO-ing AJ Lee in a WWE match-up – and the commentator responds with the words: “It’s like Phil Bardsley knocking out Wayne Rooney in his kitchen.”

Not sure if that might hurt Rooney more than the original hit.

The world of professional wrestling seems to be more than a little obsessed with Rooney – just a few weeks ago Bad News Barrett, who was born in Lancashire and supports Preston, challenged him to a fight.
